A south Texas university system was severely impacted by a major hurricane in 2008. Extensive repairs and renovations were required both immediately and ongoing. CCM provided on-request cost estimating services for FEMA recovery, mitigation, and design-phase efforts. The scope of work involved over 80 buildings including student housing complexes, historical structures, administrative facilities, hospitals, and service buildings. Results – CCM, for more than one year, provided hundreds of FEMA and design-phase cost estimate submittals, routinely meeting owner and design team workload requirements and tight schedule.
A central Texas-based university system designed and constructed a new $13 million student union facility. CCM consultants provided design-phase cost estimating services including conceptual, schematic design, design development, and construction document phase submittals. Results – 3.2% variance from average of 18 bidders.
During the expansion and renovation of a south Texas-based college classroom and administration facility, CCM was retained for design-phase cost estimating services. Total project cost was over $7 million and included substantial MEP and central plant upgrades. Construction document phase cost estimates were submitted to the owner and design team. Results – 3.3% delta from average of seven qualified bidders.
A major east Texas university branch designed and constructed a music building. The over $22 million facility included specialized classrooms for music education, a premier concert hall, faculty offices, and administrative spaces. CCM consultants provided cost estimates at schematic design, design development, and construction documents phases. Results – 0.4% variance from final negotiated construction manager guaranteed maximum price (GMP).
